Revolutionising Security Operations with our investment in ‘Spot’

May 10, 2023 by Content Manager

Our business recently announced its investment in groundbreaking technology, Spot, an advanced mobile robot developed by Boston Dynamics. Unveiled to a captivated audience of security experts at our Counter-terrorism conference in Croke Park, Dublin, Spot represents a significant leap forward in the security industry.

As one of the early adopters of this remarkable technology, Bidvest Noonan is at the forefront of innovation, revolutionising our security offering and ushering in a new era of safety, efficiency, and productivity. But, what are the benefits of Spot and how does it differ from traditional security measures?

Workforce Protection: Safeguarding Lives in Hazardous Situations

Spot’s integration into our security operations brings forth invaluable benefits, starting with enhanced workforce protection. By deploying Spot in potentially hazardous environments, we will improve the safety and well-being of our colleagues. Spot’s unrivalled mobility and autonomy features allow it to access areas that may pose risks or challenges to humans, offering an additional layer of protection and mitigating potential harm. The robot’s advanced sensors and agile capabilities, alongside its water and dust resistance, equip it to handle various terrains and navigate challenging environments.

Asset Management: Streamlining Inspection Tasks for Critical Equipment

Bidvest Noonan recognises the importance of efficient asset management, and Spot plays a vital role in automating inspection tasks for critical equipment. Equipped with cutting-edge sensors and cameras, Spot conducts thorough and accurate inspections of assets, identifying potential issues or anomalies with precision. By automating routine inspection tasks, we will optimise our operations, reducing the risk of human error and proactively addressing maintenance needs. This streamlined approach ensures optimal functionality and longevity of clients’ critical assets, saving time and resources.

Operational Insight: Enabling Frequent and Reliable Data Collection

Spot’s deployment in Bidvest Noonan’s operations revolutionises data collection, enabling more frequent and reliable insights. Spot, equipped with advanced mobility and high-tech sensors, surveys diverse locations and captures real-time data, offering valuable insights into security patterns, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and highlighting areas for improvement. This data-driven approach empowers our business and colleagues to make informed decisions, allocate resources effectively, and continuously enhance security operations. The ability to gather comprehensive and up-to-date data is increasingly important in the rapidly evolving security landscape.

Environment: Reducing Carbon Intensity through Remote Connectivity

Bidvest Noonan is committed to environmental sustainability, and Spot contributes to our efforts by reducing carbon intensity. Spot enables remote experts to connect to sites, minimising the need for physical travel. Through Spot’s advanced mobility and high-quality video streaming capabilities, experts can remotely monitor and assess situations, providing guidance and support to on-site personnel. This remote connectivity not only reduces the carbon footprint associated with travel but also enhances response time, promotes collaboration, and reduces operational costs.

The Future of Security

Peter Smyth, Director of Technology and Innovation at Bidvest Noonan, expressed his enthusiasm for our investment, stating, “In our business, we strive to trial and invest in the latest and boldest technology. Spot will elevate the level of security we can offer to our customers and help our teams perform even better. I am eager to collaborate with our customers to improve the level of protection we can provide to them.”

Dynamic cleaning: A data-led approach to cleaning services management

September 28, 2022 by Site Manager

In this conversation with Peter Smyth, Director of Innovation and Technology, we explore the concept of Dynamic Cleaning, a data-driven and technology-enhanced approach to cleaning that aims to match the supply of cleaning resources against demand.

What is Dynamic Cleaning?
Dynamic cleaning enables us to develop data-driven insights and an accurate understanding of which spaces in customer buildings need to be cleaned and when to clean them.
Its an approach that aims to match the supply of cleaning resources against demand more accurately than ever before to ensure

What are the benefits of Dynamic Cleaning?

The benefits of Dynamic Cleaning are many, including cleaner buildings, happier building users, more efficient cleaning teams and a better environment for all.

Cleaning teams become more productive because they allocate their time based on data about how spaces are used. This means team members can be redeployed to where they are needed most, providing greater value to our customers.

Building users enjoy better environments because cleaning teams know where and when to spend their time to ensure spaces remain clean and attractive.

Dynamic cleaning improves the sustainability of our operations. We use less water, less energy and less cleaning chemical because cleaning is targeted to areas that need attention.

How do the sensors work?
Our sensors are discretely installed around our customers’ sites. They detect motion, temperature, light (lux), and humidity levels within any given area. The data flows into powerful dashboards which we use to inform our cleaning operations.

Does this impact the privacy of building users?
No; the data collected is entirely anonymous, providing information only on a specific area and not on specific individuals in that space.

  • Independent scrubbing water recycling system
  • Reduction in water consumption
  • Reduction in costs connected to the use of clean water
  • Reduction in costs connected to managing wastewater
  • Easy to use due to an intuitive display that allows interaction with the machine
  • Quick and simple installation
  • Easy to move mobile unit on wheels

We have committed to saving a minimum of 500,000 litres of water per year on campus. This equates to 1/5 of an Olympic size swimming pool.
