The Challenge: Provide Exceptional Infection Prevention and Control
In a busy hospital environment like our customers, where patient turnover is high and work is carried out across multiple varied specialities, a unique challenge was faced. It’s not just about maintaining a spotless environment but doing so in a way that aligns with the hospital’s commitment to exceptional patient care.
From day one, the hospital required a team that could uphold standards vital for patient safety and maintain a clean, safe environment. The persistent risk of Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs) in such a busy healthcare setting demands detailed attention and strict hygiene protocols. Our role was to rise to this challenge, bring innovation to the partnership, and ensure the prevention of infection.
A Solution Built on Comprehensive Hygiene Standards
Throughout our 20-year partnership with the hospital, we have maintained an exemplary record in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), demonstrating exceptional effectiveness in preventing and controlling infectious outbreaks. The team has introduced several measures at the hospital to further enhance performance in this critical area.
An In-House IPC Specialist:
A key strategy in meeting the hospital’s challenge was the appointment of an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Specialist. An expert in their field, this specialist advises and trains the Bidvest Noonan cleaning team. They collaborates closely with the hospitals IPC team to ensure adherence to its best practices and the latest techniques for creating clean and safe environments.
BICSc accredited Trainers and Assessors:
To ensure that our teams master every aspect of their role, prioritising exceptional technical skills has been essential. We invest significantly in training our people, understanding that it’s an ongoing journey, not a one-time event. Central to this approach are our BICSc accredited assessors and trainers. Our expert colleagues ensure that every task is performed to the highest level.
Uniform that meets Healthcare professional needs:
At the hospital, our cleaning team wears scrubs specifically chosen to meet the unique demands of the environment in which they work. These scrubs are key for keeping things hygienic and can be washed at high temperatures, a must for preventing infections. They’re also designed for comfort and movement, which is great for long working hours. The scrubs do more than just identify different staff roles; they bring everyone together, creating a unified and professional team image at the hospital
Innovative Approach That Has Improved Patient Experiences
For our customer, we have transformed the way cleaning has been performed across the hospital. With new technology and expert methods, our team has helped improve patient care and allowed operations the run smoother.
Decontamination Technology
We have integrated advanced cleaning technologies like the Glosair System which is designed for fast and effective full-room decontamination. It is risk-free and can decontaminate a 200m³ space within 2-3 hours. While in use, this automated machine allows the team to redirect their focus to other complex areas.
Best-in-Class Equipment
The team has also been equipped with multiple iMop’s that have revolutionised cleaning in difficult, hard-to-reach areas. The iMop’s design, offering greater manoeuvrability, ensures that every part of the hospital is accessible and enables them to clean wards without having to move patients as they receive the highest level of care from the hospital.
Healthcare Forum Initiative
Our Healthcare Forum was established as a proactive response to the evolving needs and challenges in healthcare cleaning and maintenance. Led by our Director of Operations for Healthcare, this forum sees management teams from various of our healthcare contracts come together to exchange ideas and share best practices.
Outcomes From a Strong Partnership
Our journey at the hospital began with clear goals: to uphold the highest standards of infection control, offer adaptable staffing solutions, and bring innovation to our solutions.
